Study 005
For the fifth edition of Exploring Time we have invited Builders Club, a London-based creative studio founded by directing duo Julien Simshäuser and Jonas Hegi. With backgrounds in live action and motion graphic the duo is creating exceptional and engaging visual experiences and stories.
‘It’s an observation of a moment in time and what happens to our mind when we let go and start drifting away. Something ordinary suddenly becomes the impulse of our imagination and we find ourselves wondering where reality ends and imagination starts. Only to wake up realising that it was only relativity playing with us.’ – Builders Club
Study 004
For the fourth edition of our series Exploring Time, we invited Spanish born photographer Nacho Alegre to create poetic images off the splendid beaches of the Costa Brava.
“It's a reflection on time, not necessarily about the pass-ing of time, simply more about a very specific moment within it, the moment of balance. lt is a transitional moment that exists just for an instant. A moment we perceive as beautiful but not apprehensible. Both my film and images explore this idea and try to uncover the elusiveness and sensuality of that moment.”—Nacho Alegre.
Study 003
For the third edition of our series Exploreing Time, ltalian born photographer Carlotta Manaigo conducts a study of characters in time. Divided into two parts; photography and video. The stills focus on the relationship between two young adults and investigate themes of identity, duality and androgyny, narrating their coming of age.The geometric lines of the urban architecture gradually blend into a natural landscape in which they find liberation, we now feel their skin, their breath, the formality becomes physical.
The video introduces other generations, a young boy and an older gentleman, captured in repetitive moments of everyday life, in the house, around the table, outdoors. lt plays with the passage of time, the ticking of a watch mirrors other circular shapes which become reoccurring elements, as to embody the eternal cycle of life.
Study 002
‘Flux’ was created by Albin Holmqvist and Adrian Mörner Hansen. The study is based around the constant fluidity of the world, and is told through a short film and a series of prints.
It is clear that change and death are ubiquitous features of the natural world. As cold things grow hot, the hot cools, the wet dries, the parched moistens – we will keep getting lost, being fucked, and finding new ways.
To isolate the concept of time itself is a riddle that most likely will never be solved. But, taking a moment to observe the constant flow around us and within ourselves is probably as close as we will ever get.
Study 001
We asked the talented photographer Jonas Lindström to conduct the first of our creative research to explore the notion of time. The photographs are shot in November 2013 at the scenic Alvaret on the island of Öland in southern of Sweden.
“Time is the most precious thing we have. We all have a limited amount of time on earth and therefore we have such a special relationship with time.” – Jonas Lindström
